Take Action

Call your U.S. Congressman to tell him that you want action to stop foreclosures now.  Bear Stearns, the real estate industry and banks have lobbyists to support their interests.  Unless you speak out, homeowners in crisis will be left out.  To Contact Your Member of Congress, visit http://www.congress.org/

Tell your member of Congress that you want the bankruptcy laws changed to permit homeowners to modify Adjustable Rate Mortgages.

Faith and Justice Prayer Circle for the Nation

WHO – Families, Communities, Cities, States, the Nation and People of Faith throughout the World

WHAT  - Pray for President Obama, his Administration and the U.S. Congress.  Pray for national unity of purpose and spirit of cooperation and concern for all Americans and people everywhere.  Pray for jobs, economic stability, peace and justice.

WHEN – Beginning  on Watchnight, New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2010

WHERE - In home, churches, mosques, temples and wherever people of faith gather.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE  - 1 Timothy 2: 1-3   I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Statement of Purpose - Watchnight, 1859, Americans watched and prayed all night that Abraham Lincoln would sign the Emancipation Proclamation.  God was faithful to hear their prayers and the abolition of slavery in the United States began on January 1, 1860.  Today, we face daunting challenges.  People of faith have a role to play in fighting for peace and justice in everyday American life.
